Man Charged After Argument Over Broken Belongings Gets Physical, Westport Police Say

A man was charged after an argument regarding broken personal belongings turned physical, according to Westport police.

Officers were called to a residence in Westport on Thursday, Nov. 15 after hearing of a disturbance. Before arriving, police were informed that one party had made threats about striking the other party with a pipe.

After police arrived, one of the subjects, Akeem Hosten, of Westport, was trying to leave in his vehicle. Officers then detained him and carried on to find two pipes in his vehicle close to the driver’s seat.

Officers discovered that Hosten and the other party were involved in a verbal argument over broken belongings when Hosten grabbed the victim, causing a minor facial injury.

Hosten also threatened to cause injuries to the victim’s family members using a pipe.

Hosten was taken to police headquarters and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, making threats, and keeping weapons in a vehicle. Upon posting $2,500 bond, Hosten was released and given a court date of Friday, Nov. 16.
